The iMac Suite
There is always going to be a need for large screens in schools. Editing a movie, a music score, or a digital image is easier on a large screen. It is easier to manage the software and creates less strain on the eye. Large iMac screens also offer the ability for pairs and small groups of learners to share the same screen and project. This is especially true for a primary class working on video and animation projects as well as secondary students editing complex Final Cut projects.
The Apple Mobile Learning Lab
Mobile learning labs or trolleys have been with us for quite some time now and they have proven to be a very successful way of taking ICT to any classroom. Combined with a good wireless network, the mobile lab is a very cost-effective way of delivering ICT. Many schools opt for the Mac option over PC simply because of the creative tools within Apple’s iLife. A mobile learning lab brings digital creativity to every space in your school.
The Handheld Learning Revolution
The handheld device is becoming more and more prevalent in schools. The iPod touch and iPad offer immediate and safe Internet access through the school’s wireless network. Whilst not appropriate for creating large visual projects, the Touch does allow instant access to Google searches for data, text and images. Rather than move students to IT rooms or bring the laptop trolley into the room, iPod touches can be on and in action in seconds, minimising disruption.
